Letter Blocks!

Hello Grade 6's! As you all know, we have been working with words this week! Now that you have had a few warm up activities its time to put your spelling to the test! Play this game and see how high of a score you can get working with letters to build words! This game is a mix between scrabble, and a little candy crusher! You must look at the columns of letters given to you and try to link them together in order to make words! Oh ya, and did I mention letters will be dropping down from the top of the screen just to add some fuel to your fire! Good luck!

Parents, over the past few weeks we have been been doing "working with words" activities! This allows the students to become familiar with the sounds and combinations of a variety of words. It also helps them to become more familiar with frequently used words, helping to develop reading comprehension and fluency!

Letter blocks is a fun game that engages students while creating a lightly competitive aspect (as the score is what you work to build)!

Curriculum Expectations: Grade 6

3.1 spell familiar words correctly

3.2 spell unfamiliar words using a variety of strategies that involve understanding sound-symbol relationships, word structures, word meanings, and generalizations about spelling

I encourage you to check out the game and try it for yourself! :)
